Alexcom’s Operations division has been appraised at Level 2 of the CMMI® Institute’s Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for Product Engineering and Development (DEV). CMMI is a capability improvement approach that provides organizations with the
essential elements of effective processes that ultimately improve their performance. The CMMI Institute, a subsidiary of Carnegie Mellon University, is dedicated to elevating organizational performance through best-in-class solutions to real-world challenges. The Institute is the home of the Capability Maturity Model Integration (CMMI) for Development, Services, and Acquisition; the People Capability Maturity Model; and the Data Management Maturity Model (DMM), which are capability improvement models that create high-performance, high maturity cultures. The models are used in thousands of organizations worldwide to deliver business results that serve as a mark of differentiation in the global market.

An appraisal at maturity level 2 indicates AlexCom is performing at a “managed” level. At this level, projects have ensured that processes are planned and executed in accordance with policy; the projects employ skilled people who have adequate resources to produce controlled outputs; involve relevant stakeholders; are monitored, controlled, and reviewed; and are evaluated for adherence to their process descriptions.

ISO 9001:2015

Alexcom is an ISO 9001:2015 registered company with up-to-date certification for Recruitment and Provision of Information Technology Services Personnel for Corporations and Government Agencies. “Registered” means that our processes have been independently assessed, so you aren’t taking our word for it that we’re doing things right. It confirms that Alexcom practices Total Quality Management(TQM). QA/QC processes are engaged at project initiation, and are put in place for all phases of work and task deliverable preparation. ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011

ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 is an international IT standard that allows companies to demonstrate excellence in IT management. The standard provides guidelines for companies to achieve evidence-based benchmarks to continuously improve their delivery of IT services. ISO/IEC 20000 was originally released in 2005 based around the IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL®) best practice framework, and then updated in 2011.

ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 is a service management system (SMS) standard. It specifies requirements for the service provider to plan, establish, implement, operate, monitor, review, maintain and improve an SMS. The requirements include the design, transition, delivery and improvement of services to fulfil agreed service requirements.The adoption of ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 has grown quite rapidly in the international arena of IT service providers and has become a competitive differentiation for companies delivering IT services.

ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011 can be used by:

organizations seeking out service providers in search of assurance that their service requirements will be fulfilled;
organizations requiring a consistent approach from all its service providers, including supply chain;
a service provider intending to demonstrate capability for the design, transition, delivery and improvement of services;
a service provider needing to monitor, measure and review its service management processes and services;
a service provider improving services through the effective implementation and operation of the SMS;
an assessor or auditor as the criteria for a conformity assessment of a service provider’s SMS to the requirements in ISO/IEC 20000-1:2011.

ISO/IEC 27001:2013

Alexcom was recently appraised and certified as having in place an ISO/IEC 27001:2013 compliant Information Security Management System (ISMS). The ISO 27000 family of standards helps organizations keep information assets secure. Using this standard helps Alexcom manage the security of assets such as financial information, intellectual property, employee details or information entrusted to you by third parties. ISO/IEC 27001 is the best-known standard in the family, providing requirements for ISMS.

What is an ISMS?

An ISMS is a systematic approach to managing sensitive company information so that it remains secure. It includes people, processes and IT systems by applying a risk management process which can help small, medium and large businesses keep information assets secure.

Like other ISO management system standards, certification to ISO/IEC 27001:2013 is possible but not obligatory. Some organizations choose to implement the standard in order to benefit from the best practice it contains while others, like Alexcom, decide to get certified both to reassure customers and clients that ISO recommendations have been followed, and to commit the company to the concept of continuous improvement through maintaining the standards.
